NC Musician| Nina Simone

My father introduced me to jazz as a young girl and I have a real love for the art. I hope you get to know some of these North Carolina jazz greats. 

Born in Tryon NC, a small town east of Asheville in the mountains of North Carolina, Nina Simone was a singer and civil rights activist. Her childhood home has been designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in an effort to preserve and rehabilitate the property and is only one of two with such designation in the state. The property was bought by four New York-based artists committed to supporting her work and legacy. Daughter Lisa Simone is a Grammy nominated vocalist and award winning actress.
