  • "Shades of Lights"

"Shades of Whites" is one of my favorite pieces and will be hard to let go.  It was a true study in mixing dry pigments to create different neutral tones through color of fusing of wax.  It has a beautiful and interesting surface, rich with texture and the natural behaviors of the medium.
I LOVE this piece paired with several of the pillows, including ALPACA BOUCLE and Neutral Branching.
The Study No. pieces are where I experiment through encaustic painting.  Using dry pigments, dammar resin, and beeswax, I create my own colors and medium for each piece.  A combination of heated metal tools, brushes, and a mini blow torch, create layer upon layer of wax and color, developing the composition, form, and texture.
