    "Encaustic can't be held tightly. The medium is free and fluid, and to some degree, you have to let go of a controlled outcome. And just be a guide for what the wax wants to be.

    My original Textiles and Ottomans are similar. Sometimes I create my own fabrics from cutting and piecing together. Other times I will drape or manipulate the textile until a new shape, sculpture, or outcome reveals.

    I've learned to stay in a place of gratefulness for all creative ideas. The results are my doxology."

    ADALÉI is a Raleigh-based creative studio —

    Working in encaustic, fiber, and textile.
    "I am not a painter. I am not a seamstress. I am a material artist — someone whose fluency moves across wax, fiber, fabric, and photography because the medium serves the idea."
    The foundation didn't disappear when the wax arrived. Years of draping construction taught me what the fabric wants to do.  Now I work with that knowledge differently — quilting wool, manipulating leather, and soon — building fiber pieces that live on a wall instead of a body.  The medium changed.  The material intelligence didn't. 
    "I return to the knowledge and experience that I know — under the needle, behind the lens, feeling the heat of the wax, and seeing things through a singular vision of creating."
    Every piece in the ADALÉI collection — whether an encaustic study or studio textile — is designed with the same eye. The same palette. The same belief that an object can hold its place in a room.

    The work is informed by architecture, by the darkroom, by the drape of fabric on the dress form — but never directed by what is trending or what is expected.
