UNDER THE NEEDLE: Chocolate Holly Hunt Quilted Ottomans

"You may notice a quilting theme running through both my TEXTILES and ART. It's a nod to the craft of this heritage technique in my state, North Carolina, and I love designing modern interpretations.
While creating the Chocolate Long Hair Shearling Wool Pillow (one of my favorites), my mind kept picturing them paired with a channel quilted ottoman in the Holly Hunt wool (back fabric from pillow), tucked graciously under a console table allowing the ottomans to serve as Objets. A true example of when the Original Textiles inspire the Objets.
It starts with hand quilting the wool fabric, in long channel rows with a delicate top stitching. Each quilted piece is cut into patterns for the cover. Frames are built in house and covered in a multi density foam for best support and comfort, then a fiber wrap. The channel quilted cover is the last step and secured underneath, fully upholstered, along with hidden non-scratch gliders for a rolling ottoman at "seat" height.
A large encaustic art piece is also in progress for a Pairing, and full ensemble in this collection.
The Holly Hunt wool fabric is no longer available, so the shearling pillows are limited to 6 and I will only make one pair of these channel quilted ottomans. Serious inquires — contact the studio for pre-sale or to follow production behind the scenes→."

Encaustic Art is created from beeswax, damar (tree) resin,
and dry earth pigments.
Fusing each layer with heat, these luminous works
