"My obsession with photography started when my children were born. Partly as a way to explore creative outlets and also to document their lives in film. For years, I took photography classes every week. Those hours in the darkroom, swirling chemical in development baths, and seeing my children's beautiful faces appear as an image were some of my most cherished memories as a mother.
My muse was black and white, specifically sepia, on fiber paper.
When I saw this reclaimed leather, I paused a moment. A quick squint and you are seeing a sepia landscape — the abstract imagery was intoxicating. And transported me back to a special time."
The Reclaimed Textiles begin with leathers and hair on hide sourced from the NC furniture trade and chosen for their character, interest, and coloring. Working within what exists, each piece is cut, quilted, or constructed to honor the leather's natural scale and characteristics — resulting in one-of-a-kind intentional designs.
